Macintosh OS 8.x - 9.x


  1. Click the Apple Menu and scroll down to and click on Control Panels.
  2. Then click on Remote Access or PPP (depending on your OS, ex. 8.5 & higher uses Remote Access).
  3. Type in your username. Please Note: You must add the domain to your username. Your username should now read like an email address, with all lowercase letters and no spaces (ex. username@switchol.com).
  4. Type in your password.
  5. Enter your local dialup number. For a list of numbers, click here.
  6. Click the Options Button
  7. Make sure ONLY following things are checked:
    • Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications
    • Allow error correction and compression in Modem
    • Use TCP header compression
  8. Click OK and Yes to save the changes.
  9. Click on the Apple Menu and scroll down to and click on Control Panels
  10. Click on TCP/IP.
  11. Connect via should say PPP
  12. Configure should say Using PPP Server
  13. IP Address, Subnet mask and Router address will automatically say “will be supplied by server
  14. For Name server address enter 12.26.83.2
  15. Close out the window and save any changes.

    You are now ready to go! To start browsing the internet, simply open your internet browser (like Internet Explorer or Netscape).
