When Netscape 4.7 is run for the first time:

The Profile Manager will create a new user profile for preferences and mail settings.

Profile Manager will ask for:

1. Profile Name, whatever you prefer (your given name, a nickname, etc.)
2. Directory Name. It is suggested you use the default.
3. (For those upgrading Navigator) Upgrade Navigator settings-select the Option you prefer.
4. Full Name, whatever you prefer (your given name, a nickname, etc.)
5. E-mail address. Your e-mail address is in the form "username@switchol.com".
6. Outgoing mail server. Select the correct SMTP server below.
7. Mail server username. Enter your Switch Online username.
8. Incoming mail server. Enter the correct mail server address listed below:
   
   

   	Incoming POP Server	Outgoing SMTP Server
   Switch Online Mail Servers:	mail.switchol.com	smtp.switchol.com

   
   
9. Mail server type. Select or type POP3
10. News server. Enter the correct news (NNTP) server address:
    
    

    	News (NNTP) Server
    Switch Online News Server:	news.switchol.com

    
    
    
    
11. Port 119 is o.k.
12. Leave the "Secure" box unchecked.
13. Click Finish to save all settings.
14. When Messenger is opened, click on the icon "Get Msg" to retrieve mail.

1. From either Netscape Communicator or Messenger Click on Edit, then Preferences.
2. When you do this a list of Categories appears on the left side of the Preferences screen.
3. To check/change your mail settings you need to click on the "+" next to Mail and Newsgroups and follow these instructions:
   1. From the Category List, click on Mail and Newsgroups.
   2. Click on Identity
   3. On the right side of the screen, fill in your name (e.g. John Smith) and email address (in the form username@switchol.com)
   4. From the Category list, click on Mail Servers
   5. Click on Add or Edit
   6. Enter the correct mail server address in Server Name:
      
      

      	Incoming POP Server	Outgoing SMTP Server
      Switch Online Mail Servers:	mail.switchol.com	smtp.switchol.com

      
      
   7. Select POP3 as Server Type. Type your Switch Online username in the User Name field. Select OK.
   8. For Outgoing mail SMTP server type smtp.switchol.com as listed above.
   9. For Mail Server user name type your username
   10. Select "Never" for Secure Socket Layers.
   11. Click OK.

1. From your desktop click on Start, then Programs.
2. Click on Netscape Communicator
3. Click on Utilities, then User Profile Manager
4. Click on New and follow the directions
