The following pages are intended to help you properly connect a computer running Windows 98 to Switch Online. Please have your Windows 98 CD available as Windows may need to copy some additional files.

1. Click on the Start Button. Move the cursor up to the Settings option, then click Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel double click on the Internet Options icon.
3. On the General tab, type www.switchol.com in the Address box, click on Apply at the bottom of the page, then click on the Connections tab at the top.
4. Click on the Setup button in the top right corner of the page. This will open up the Internet Connection Wizard. **If you do not have a Setup button but have a Connect button click HERE to continue the setup.
5. Click in the circle next to "I want to set up my internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)". Then click Next.
6. Make sure the dot is in the circle next to "I want to connect through a phone line and a modem", click Next.
7. Uncheck the box next to Dial using the area code and country code.
8. Enter the phone number of the POP closest to you. For a list of numbers, click here. If you are in Maryland, be sure to include the area code with the phone number. Do you have Call Waiting on the phone line the computer is using? To disable Call Waiting, put *70, or 1170, at the beginning of your access number. Example *70,240-327-0007 -Please note the comma and no spaces in number. This will disable call waiting ONLY when connected to the Internet. Click the Advanced button...
9. On this window click on the Addresses tab at the top and in the DNS server address area (bottom half of the page), click in the circle next to Always use the following:. In the Primary DNS server: box type 12.26.83.2 ,Then click OK.
10. Now you will be back to the screen that has the phone number area, Click Next
11. Type in your User name: and Password:, Please Note: You must add @switchol.com to your username. Your username should now read like an email address, with all lowercase letters and no spaces.
12. Click Next
13. Type Switch Online in Connection name line. Click Next
14. To set up your internet mail account, make sure the dot is in the circle next to Yes, then click Next. *If you do not wish to set up your Switch Online e-mail in Outlook Express, put the dot next to No, then click Next and skip to step #20.
15. Enter your Real Name in the box, then click Next.
16. Enter your email address (i.e. user@switchol.com), then click Next.
17. Select "POP3" for the server type.
18. Enter the mail server addresses, then click Next.

19. Your username should already appear in the Account name: box, click inside the Password: box and type your password, then click Next
20. Uncheck the box next to "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish", now click Finish.
21. Close Control Pannel.
22. You have set up your Windows 98 machine for Switch Online! Double click on your Internet Explorer icon and login!.
